Reserve a Meeting Space

Mountain Laurel Hall offers public meeting space available for reservation for the University community. Anyone using University facilities must comply with the University Code of Conduct and additional guidelines listed below. Groups that fail to meet the standards or comply with the guidelines may be denied future use of the facilities. Those groups causing damage to University facilities may be charged accordingly.

Available Spaces

Large Rooms
(Room 1 - Perseverance, 2 - Fortitude and 3 - Resilience)

  • Capacity:  Perseverance & Fortitude - 2400 square feet (166 people)
                      Resilience - 1200 square feet (83 people)
    (NOTE: Perseverance & Fortitude are used as a single space at this time and cannot be combined with Resilience.) 
  • Round tables/chairs 
  • Screen, stage, podium
  • Groups are responsible for their own setup and breakdown

Meeting Room - Endurance (Mezzanine Level)
**This room may only be reserved by university employees and the employee is responsible for ensuring anyone attending the event/meeting does not enter the residence section of Mountain Laurel Hall**

  • Capacity: 45 people
  • Long tables/chairs 
  • Wipe board, screen
  • Groups are responsible for their own setup and breakdown

Board Room - Courage

  • Capacity: 8-10
  • Fixed seating

Reservation Process

Transfer Admissions and Engagement provides an online reservation system to request meeting space. Please review the Reservations Calendar prior to submitting a request to ensure that your desired date and/or time for your event is available. Once a reservation request is submitted, Transfer Admissions & Engagement will review the information and, once the request is approved, send out a confirmation email to the individual making the request. Cancellations must be made at least two business days in advance.

Reservation Timeline

Reservation requests can only be submitted for the current semester. Reservations for subsequent semesters will open January (first day of class) for the spring semester and in August (first day of class) for the fall semester. No reservations are accepted for summer. Rooms cannot be scheduled online if lead time is less than 48 hours. All inquiries not meeting these criteria should be directed to Transfer Admissions & Engagement at 828-262-7877.

Priority Scheduling for Mountain Laurel Hall

Priority use of Mountain Laurel Hall spaces is given first to programming and events hosted by Transfer Admissions and Engagement, the Leadership Committee of the Mountain Laurel Hall Community, the residential staff in Mountain Laurel Hall, and the residents of Mountain Laurel Hall. Priority order includes:

  • Residential events for students in Mountain Laurel Hall hosted by Transfer Admissions and Engagement, the Leadership Committee for the Community, and the residential staff of Mountain Laurel Hall

  • Transfer student events hosted by Transfer Admissions and Engagement

  • Mountain Laurel Hall Council meetings and events 

  • Residents of  Mountain Laurel Hall

  • Division of Student Affairs

  • Other on-campus student, faculty, and staff meetings and events

Mountain Laurel Hall Guidelines

  • The rooms can be reserved from 8am - 10pm. 

  • The group reserving the rooms must set-up and clean-up the space prior and after. No facilities staff are available to pre-set the room. All furniture must be returned to the way it was found.

  • All food, garbage, and materials must be removed by the group reserving the room. All garbage must be placed in the dumpsters located behind the building.

  • Groups must abide by the universities food guidelines including completing the Right of First Refusal Form when food is served at events - https://dining.appstate.edu/right-of-first-refusal-form  

  • Parking: The Parking lot of Mountain Laurel Hall is by permit only for hall residents. It is strongly suggested that your group walk or bus to Mountain Laurel Hall. There are a handful of one-hour parking spaces directly in front of the lobby. In addition, students may park after hours (M-Th, after 5; Fr, after 6; and Sat after 12:30) in the adjoining BB&T parking lots. Vehicles must be removed by 7am. Vehicles parked in their lots during their business hours may be towed.

  • Access to the Hall is restricted. For outside groups using the hall, a staff member from Transfer Admissions & Engagement will provide access between 8am - 5pm and the RA on duty will provide access from 5pm - 11pm. Groups with frequent reservations should contact Transfer Admissions and Engagement (transfer@appstate.edu) for an access agreement form.
