About the TrACE Program

TrACE (Transfer, Accelerate, Complete & Engage) provides comprehensive and personalized academic & career support and financial resources specifically for NC Community College transfer students to support their academic journey.

Eligibility

Incoming transfer students are eligible for the TrACE program if they meet the following criteria:

  • North Carolina resident
  • Admitted to App State for summer or fall 2023 (TrACE activities will begin in August)
  • Associate's degree from a community college since May 2021 OR 60 or more transferable credits from a community college within the last two years. (Students can have up to a two-year gap between community college and university enrollment but the NC community college must be the last institution attended)
  • Pursuing first bachelor's degree
  • Enrolled full-time (12+ credits) in an on-campus program of study in Fall 2023
  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Please note that graduates of early college high schools (ECHS) and fully online students are not eligible for the TrACE program.

Steps to Apply

*Note the TrACE application requires a MyMountaineer portal log-in

The number of TrACE participants is limited due to funding. Applications will be reviewed after the July 7 deadline and those admitted to TrACE will be notified in August.

Admission to TrACE will be determined through a lottery process. All students who meet the TrACE eligibility requirements and submit a complete application before the deadline will be entered into a lottery; the final determination of who is accepted will be made randomly.

A TrACE acceptance is only considered final if a student has completed ALL university and TrACE admission requirements, has completed and signed the TrACE Commitment Agreement, and attends a TrACE Orientation session in August, 2023.
