Limited second academic concentration options
To be admitted to the Reich College of Education for a teacher education program, a student must meet the following criteria:
Complete PRAXIS CORE in the first year (first semester for transfer students), unless SAT or ACT scores are high enough to be exepmt
Complete CI 2300 and FDN 2400 with a C or better (can register with 30 hours in progress but must have 30 earned to stay in the class)
Complete 45 hours with a 2.7 Appalachian GPA (2.7 must be maintained)
Current Criminal Background Check (CBC)
Attend a First Steps to Teaching Information Session (will be invited once they declare)
Admission to Teacher Ed deadlines, August 1 for Fall or January 1 for Spring, must have passing scores on Praxis Core Tests and CBC completed.
Be proficient in Reading, English. Students should see the coordinator in the College of Education for the proficiency criteria.

Second Academic Concentrations (SAC):
A second academic concentration (18 sh) is required for this major and should be selected as soon as possible to avoid course sequence problems, especially if SAC is math or science. (This also applies to any of the languages or the arts.)
For Transfer Students, the best SAC's tend to be: Psychology, Social Studies, Math, Science and Technology or Global Studies.
