My main role in the Office of Transfer Services is to make sure that credits are applied appropriately either into a student's major or into Appalachian State University's General Education Program. I also serve as a liaison with the Office of Distance Education ensuring a smooth transition for those cohort based students as well. My name is Jim Weeks, I am the Customer Service Representative in the Office of Transfer Services. My main responsibilities include providing customer service, general office support, answering and routing phone calls, and helping students find the resources that they will need to ensure their success at Appalachian State University. I transferred to App in 1984 and graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor's degree in Communication. My degree prepared me for career success in the fields of Human Resources, Benefits Administration, Call Center Operations Management, Customer Service, and Radio Broadcasting. I am excited to have returned as a staff member. It is an honor and a pleasure to be assisting fellow Mountaineers and I wish to welcome you to Appalachian State University!
My name is Nate Weigl, and I serve as an Associate Director in the Office of Transfer Services. I spent my first 8+ years at Appalachian as a faculty member in the math department. I worked closely with hundreds of transfer students in that role, and I saw firsthand the valuable work that OTS does on campus and off. I now have the pleasure of working daily with a team of professionals who are dedicated to helping transfers to Appalachian transition, integrate, and succeed. My main responsibilities within OTS involve providing oversight to the articulation unit and ensuring that our systems are running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Before moving to Boone, I spent six years teaching math and coaching high school basketball in Maryland.
My name is Andrea Winkler and I am the Administrative Assistant to the Office of Transfer Services. If you find yourself walking through the door to our office, I am the first face you will see. Please know that we are here for you! Any question, big or small, we are happy to help. I may not have all the answers but I can connect you with the appropriate staff member. I know it can be confusing as a transfer student to figure out where to go and who to contact. I hope to eliminate some of that confusion for you. My primary responsibility is to assist the staff in our office and ensure all activity is running smoothly. I also answer phone calls, emails and oversee the initial contact with our office. Boone has been my home for over twelve years and I love it here! So feel free to also ask me general questions about the area. Thank you for visiting our site!
My name is Jeni Wyatt, and I am the Director of the Office of Transfer Services (OTS), and I have been at Appalachian since 2003. I oversee all the great work done by the OTS staff members, who work to provide a comprehensive approach to empower transfer students to succeed. Before coming to OTS, I was in the College Advising and Support Services Hub in the College of Arts & Sciences, so I've spent many years working with students to help them complete their academic goals. I myself have been a transfer student since first grade! I was raised in a military family and changed schools often as we moved from one duty station to the next. As an undergraduate I began my college career at a community college and transferred twice before completing my bachelor's degree at UNC-Asheville, so I understand that the transfer process can be exciting - and scary. OTS is here to help your move to Appalachian be a positive one! I enjoy Appalachian basketball, softball, and football, so say hello when you see me at the home games!
