Fall Events Help Engage Transfer Students

A new year, a new university, and new friends. For transfer students, that first semester at a new school is filled with many unknowns as they encounter an unfamiliar campus and town, different academic expectations, and social uncertainty. The Office of Transfer Services offers support and programming to help transfer students quickly get connected and comfortable at their new home.

This fall we have a slate of events planned all aimed at helping transfer students meet other new and returning transfer students. While our goal is for our students to fully integrate to Appalachian, we know that it’s often helpful for students to spend time with other transfer students who are or have gone through a similar transition to a new school, especially in the beginning. Events take place both on and off campus and all transfer students are invited to attend. The full schedule is available on our website and each week we highlight the upcoming events to students in a weekly email newsletter called Transfer Scoop.

In addition, transfer students are invited to join the Transfer Student Organization (TSO). TSO serves as a way for new and current transfers students to connect socially through regular meetings, social trips and events, and a supportive environment.
