Welcome to Jump Start Appalachian!
If you are a future transfer student, a college advisor or a faculty member from Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, Catawba Valley Community College, Central Piedmont Community College’s Levine Campus or Wilkes Community College then Jump Start is here to help.
Jump Start Appalachian is a transfer student transition and support program helping students find the answers and resources they need to successfully transfer to Appalachian State University's main campus. We help students before, during and after their transfer to Appalachian. Whether it’s visiting with us while we are on your campus, texting with a Transfer Student Mentor or meeting with an academic department we want to help!

Transfer Student Mentors
One of the success stories of helping transfer students is the students themselves. The Transfer Student Mentors (TSMs) are a group of transfer students who have successfully transferred to Appalachian. The TSMs assist incoming transfer students by providing accurate information and helping students get connected with the Appalachian community and campus. The TSMs visit community colleges, lead campus tours, reach out to admitted students, support Transfer Student Orientation, and transfer student events. Students may connect with them through email, social media, Google chat or over a cup of coffee on campus.
The following resources are available to faculty at the Jump Start community colleges.
- ACA 122 Presentation
- Jump Start provides a 45-minute presentation on the college transfer process that includes transfer admission requirements, transfer credits, financial aid, and transfer guides. Faculty are welcome to contact Jump Start to schedule a visit to your class.
- Academic Advising and Transfer Guides
- Campus Visits
- Jump Start is available to help you plan and coordinate a visit to our main campus in Boone, NC. The visit may include our Transfer Track, Office of Transfer Services, and academic department visits.
