Winter Weather Advisory

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Watauga County from 12 am until Noon on Wednesday, January 23. This includes Appalachian State University. A light glaze of ice is possible, which may result in slick travel conditions. Use caution when traveling and continue to monitor the National Weather Service or local media for the latest weather forecast.

There are several ways to meet Appalachian's General Education requirements.

From a North Carolina Community College

Note: Students must apply to graduate at the community college in order for the diploma or degree to be denoted on the transcript. A final transcript needs to be sent to Appalachian with the diploma or degree posted.

The Associate in Applied Science and Associate in General Education do NOT meet Appalachian's General Education requirements.

All Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees from a North Carolina Community College prior to 1997 will require validation by the General Education Office to meet General Education requirements.

From a UNC System 4 Year Institution

  • Completion of the UNC System 4 Year Institution's General Education requirements

Note: Evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Students should communicate with Appalachian's General Education Office at 828.262.2028 or gened@appstate.edu to determine if General Education requirements will be met at Appalachian.

From an Out-of-State Community College

  • Associate in Arts/Associate in Science

Second Degree Seeking Students

  • Bachelor degree from any 4-year accredited institution
